JESUS HEALS A MAN THAT FALLS THROUGH THE ROOF.  Mark 2

29  Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Mark 1:29

  1. JESUS IS IN THE HOUSE PREACHING.
  • They came to see the Lord work some more miracles.
  • They came to see Him do the extraordinary.
  • Imagine their surprise and disappointment when Jesus began to preach to them!
  • It is clear that Jesus’ message was far more important that the miracles.

If we keep telling one another the good news – the Gospel then we are going to walk closer to Jesus every day

13  For " whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. 14  How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

15  And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, " how beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things. Romans 10:13-15 (NASB)

  1. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A ROOF TO CAVE IN FOR US TO SEE JESUS.

Sometimes the whole house just needs to shake, shake rattle and roll for us to see Jesus.

  • As Jesus preaches, the sound of digging is heard overhead.
  • After a short time, dirt and wood begin to fall on the crowd assembled below.
  • Then, blue sky breaks through the darkness and a man is lowered into the room.
  • I wonder what Jesus thought.
  • After all how many times do you preach and the whole roof comes tumbling down.
  • I wonder what the crowd thought.

Something wonderful always takes place when Jesus is in the house! It makes all the difference in the world when He is present with us as we worship Him.

17  So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.18  Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.”

But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” James 2:17-18 (NLT)

8  God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.  9  Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

10  For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

Verse 5 says this: When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man that was paralyzed, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

Wait a minute! This man was brought to Jesus for healing and Jesus deals with his sins. Why?  Sin was his greatest problem and Jesus dealt with it first!

III. JESUS SAID PICK UP YOUR BED YOU ARE HEALED.

When these religious men heard Jesus forgive the crippled man's sins, they could not believe their ears!

In verse 9 Jesus said; Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? “

When Jesus commanded the man to take up his bed and go to his house He was proving that He was Who He claimed to be.

He was proving that He was the Messiah. He was proving that He was God in the flesh.

Notice His words in verse 10 “ 10  But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.

That word authority can be translated power.  In other words Jesus is saying I am the Messiah.  I have the authority and the power to forgive and to heal either here on earth or in heaven.

Let’s keep the faith and be ready to help those that need physical healing but most of all spiritual healing.  Be bold and reach out!

If we keep telling one another the good news – the Gospel then we are going to walk closer to Jesus every day.
